The Promenade des Anglais
Seven kilometres long, the Promenade des Anglais skirts the Bay of Angels, lined with palms and the iconic Blue Chairs that have become a symbol of the city. People walk, run and cycle here, and above all stop before the round pebbles to watch the sea change colour. A meeting at the Negresco, under its two pink domes, gives a gentle, typically niçois setting to a first encounter.
Place Masséna and gardens
In the centre, Place Masséna shows off its red-and-white paving and its Apollo statue, framed by Jaume Plensa’s seven statues perched on high masts and lit up at night. The Albert I Garden then slopes down softly to the sea between lawns, a bandstand and sculptures. A shared coffee on one of the terraces of the square, followed by a stroll through these gardens, is a classic that always works.
Old Nice and Place Rossetti
In the maze of Old Nice, tall colourful houses hide the Baroque Sainte-Réparate Cathedral, which opens onto Place Rossetti and its fountain. Two ice-cream makers compete in imagination here, perfect for a summer date. On Lyad, Nice members share their favourite scoops and secret lanes; it is up to you to find someone to taste the next Menton lemon together.
